How to Choose a Tree Service in Broward

Anyone with a truck and a saw will take your money after a storm. The difference is insurance, a written scope, and someone who will still answer the phone if a limb hangs up on the cage. KAP Tree Service is residential tree service in Davie you can call before you need that test.

Ask for insurance, in writing

Ask for a certificate of insurance that names general liability and workers’ comp. Read the date. A card in a wallet is not the same as a current certificate. If someone is injured in your yard or a round goes through a screen, you want their policy in force, not a story. We will not invent a license number on this page. Florida and Broward have their own contractor and occupational rules; ask the company what they hold and check it. If they bristle, that is data.

Same-day cash, no paperwork, “we’ll be gone before the HOA sees us” is how people pay twice.

Get a written estimate for a defined job

The estimate should say what comes down, what gets hauled, whether the stump is ground, and what happens to the chips. “Take down the oak” is not a scope. “Take down the live oak on the south side, haul all wood, grind the stump below grade, leave chips” is a scope. If the price is only good if you “decide today,” walk away.

Photos help. A walk-through is better when the tree is over a house. In Parkland the lots are bigger and the access is different; the paperwork should still be the same shape.

Watch the work, not the slogan

Topping and hurricane cuts are not a bargain. They are a future removal. Climbing spikes on a tree you plan to keep are a wound. A crew that cannot explain why a limb is coming off, in English, is guessing in your yard.

We do not pay for reviews and we will not paste fake ones here. Ask a neighbor whose job you can still see two seasons later. Look at whether the cuts are outside the branch collar or flushed into the trunk.

Storm chasers

After a named storm, out-of-town trucks show up. Some are fine. Some take a deposit and leave. Do not pay in full up front. Do not let anyone on a roof that still has a tree on it without a plan. Power lines are FPL’s, not a bargain chainsaw’s. Our post on a tree on the house is the order of operations; hiring is the next page.

If you want a second read on whether the tree is even a removal, regular tree inspection is cheaper than a wrong takedown.

What we will tell you on the phone

Whether we can get to you, whether we need to see it, and a range only after we know the access. We will not quote a palm as an oak. We will not promise 24-hour response we cannot staff. The number below is a person in this market, not a call center in another state.

Red flags in the first five minutes

They will not give a street address for the company. They want cash only. They want half the job in Venmo before they unload. They call themselves arborists and cannot say what they would cut or why. They offer to “top it for hurricane season.” They offer to dump the wood in a vacant lot. They show up with no chaps, no helmets, and a homeowner ladder against a live oak.

None of that is proof of a crime. It is proof you should keep calling. A real crew can tell you where the truck will sit, where the chips will go, and what they will do if a limb hangs. If the answer is “we’ll figure it out,” they will figure it out on your cage.

Ask who is climbing and who is on the ground. One person in the tree with nobody spotting is how people get left on a limb. We run a ground person. That costs money. That is the point of the estimate.

Check that the name on the estimate matches the name on the insurance certificate. A crew that “works under” someone else’s policy is a crew you cannot find later. Our name is on the truck and on the paper. That is boring. Boring is the point.

If you are comparing us to a national brand or to a neighbor with a saw, compare scope, not vibes. The cheap number is almost always missing haul-off, stump, or the second day.

If you want us on the property, have the gate code, the HOA rule if there is one, and a clear photo of the whole tree or hedge from the side that faces the house. That is enough to start. We will tell you if we need to walk it before we price. No dollar figures on this page, no 24-hour promise we cannot keep, and no topping.

Davie is the yard we work from. Nearby cities are on the same trucks, not a different company. If the job is on the other side of the county line, say the city when you call so we bring the right permit conversation, not the Davie one.
